Fish skin, often overlooked, is a surprisingly versatile organic material. Strong, flexible, and shiny, it has been used in my artwork after a meticulous tanning process. By braiding it, I was able to harness its unique texture and natural luster, creating pieces that combine aesthetics and durability.
Impressive Strength Fish skin is more durable than you might think. Once tanned, its fibers become tough, making it ideal for creating lightweight but durable art pieces.
A Unique Natural Shine Its shine and texture, often scaled, add a luxurious and refined dimension. Each piece is different, offering captivating visual richness.
An Eco-Friendly Choice By using fish skin, a by-product often discarded, I contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious approach, giving new life to this organic material.
If you're curious Here is a very interesting video excerpt that shows how fish skin is transformed into leather for shoe production. It’s a great illustration of the versatility of this material!
Fish skin, with its flexibility and aesthetics, opens up exciting creative possibilities while supporting an ethical approach to art.
